When speaking of prominent knife makers Kershaw Knives is sure to be at or near the top of the list. Kershaw knives are an industry leader in innovation, design, affordability and with a lifetime warranty arguably the most carried knife in the world.
In the year 1974, a man named Pete Kershaw left his sales job to start a company selling his own cutlery designs. Thus, the legend of Kershaw Knives was born in Portland, Oregon, and since that day millions of people across the globe have put their trust in high-quality Kershaw knives.
Kershaw first chose to manufacture many of their products in Japan to create high quality knives and multitools. It was this decision that caught the attention of KAI Group, and in 1977, Kai USA acquired Kershaw, allowing the chance for more innovative designs that have stood out time and again over the years. Many of these designs have come from partnerships with several prominent custom knife makers, including award winning Ohio native Ken Onion, as well as renowned knife maker and martial artist Ernest Emerson. Working with such esteemed knifemakers has helped Kershaw knives win a multitude of awards for design, utility, and value.
In more recent times, Kershaw has brought much of its manufacturing back home to the Kai USA 55,000 sq. ft. facility in Tualatin, Oregon. Since the move, Kershaw has won numerous awards for their quality and innovative designs.
Kershaw has been in the business of designing and manufacturing knives for over 40 years. In that time, they’ve produced many styles of knives, partnered with some of the best custom knife makers in the business, and won award after award for quality. Its little wonder why Kershaw knives have been at the Edge of History.
