The new M&P-5.7 pistol features an impressive magazine capacity of 22 rounds and is fitted with a 5-inch barrel. Operating on a gas-operated, locked-breech system designed to work with the 5.7mm cartridge, it is quite different from the typical delayed blowback tilting mechanisms.
